Recovery / Restoration Review

Start With an Honest Recovery Assessment

Recovery review is for cards with structural or surface issues such as dents, bends, warping, edge concerns, staining, adhesive residue, or delamination. Apex assesses the issue, documents limitations, and discusses whether a collector-presentation approach is appropriate. Recovery work may affect grading eligibility or result in an altered-card designation.

Issues We Review

Every card is different. The review identifies whether a visible issue appears to be removable surface contamination, a factory defect, structural damage, a collector-presentation concern, or a reason to do nothing.

  • Dents, indents, creases, and bends
  • Warping, peeling, and delamination
  • Edge wear and corner pressure
  • Stains, adhesive residue, and surface haze
  • Factory defects and print-line observations

Grading-Risk Disclosure

Apex does not describe recovery or restoration as grading-safe. PSA’s published standards identify pressing, scratch removal, enhanced gloss, restoration, and certain foreign substances as possible altered-card or evidence-of-cleaning concerns.

A Better Decision Than a Blind Fix

Sometimes the best recommendation is to preserve the card as-is, choose a reholder, document it for insurance, or avoid submission. The review exists to make that decision more informed.

Questions, answered

Before you decide

Can Apex remove a dent?

Will restoration improve value?

Apex does not guarantee resale value or investment outcomes.

Is recovery appropriate before PSA grading?

Apex does not represent recovery as grading-safe. Consult current grading-company standards before making that decision.

Documented first. Scope confirmed second.
